| I don't even know if I could recap what's happened within the past couple of months. Our house did end up selling and we stayed with my parents in June until our apartment was available July 1. It's nice to have a place of our own and it's been fun decorating it to make it feel homey. Nick's been at his new job for a month now. He really likes it. He's primarily been following my dad on service calls learning beside him. This week, he got his first assignment to drive out and service a Lowes store by himself. He was pretty stressed because he didn't want to mess anything up. And he found four problems which ended up taking him quite some time to figure out. He's definitely gaining some mechanical skills and he's able to put his electronic knowledge to good use with all the computer systems. This Monday, a friend of mine from Joplin was up in KC and swung a daytrip to St. Joe to say hi. On Tuesday, my aunt Lisa, my grandma, & I ventured out to Jamesport for a day-long vacation. It was SO wonderful. I have lots of fun memories of going out to the Amish communities near Mexico, MO as a child but it's been years since I've been to one. It was so relaxing to be far out from the sounds of cars, cellphones, and the fast-paced noises of common living. We all enjoyed viewing the fine woodcrafting skills of the Amish and we all stocked up at one of their bakeries and garden shops. It was thoroughly enjoyable to be way out in farmland, to hear the sounds of crickets and the wind rustling through the trees. Nick and I both have been enjoying our Sunday school class this summer at Central called Love and Respect. A lot of friends from church are getting married this year and so even though we're the youngest of the group, we are the "old couple" when it comes to how long we've been married. We've enjoyed spending Monday nights rotating houses, the guys playing boardgames and the girls chatting around the living rooms. For the fourth, we went to my parents for a BBQ. We got Happy Feet from Redbox (a big hype in the Greenlee household for movie renting). We thought it was cute, but were taken back by the huge environment undertone. We're both all for conservation, but didn't seem to think it had a place in the movie. Anyways, it was fun having a day to kick back. I'm afraid I'm not very good at keeping our blog updated often. I've found Facebook so much more convenient, so it you have an account please request me. I'd love to keep in contact with you that way. This isn't to say I'm giving up the blog altogether, but I do feel I'd get back with you quicker! |
