Weekend review

Lots of good stuff happening in the Greenlee household as of recent.

On Saturday I went to the Spec Shoppe to look into getting a new pair of glasses. It's high time. I thought I was smart in choosing my last pair of specs (rimless... my logic was, they wouldn't be that noticeable so I could wear them full time instead of using contacts, too, which would in turn save money). Problem was, no one told me how easily they break and because they don't have frames they can't be fixed. So, after a few months of wearing mine, they broke, and I've been without a pair since (close to two years now). My eyes have really taken a beating because I wear contacts from the moment I'm up to the moment I go to bed (around sixteen hours). I found a pair of glasses I like but apparently they come in sizes (I've been wearing them for eight years and didn't know that until now) and the ones I was looking at don't come in my size. The gal I worked with was great and she ordered three similar models that come in larger sizes for display so I could check them out this week. I'm hoping one of them will be a keeper.

After leaving the Spec Shoppe, Nick or I had brunch at Cracker Barrel (something we love to do but seldom do). The day felt almost like a small vacation, because later that evening, we went to Zona Rosa to meet up with Nick's family for supper at Bravo, too. I got this amazing wood grilled salmon salad with asparagus. It's always fun to try stuff I wouldn't necessarily make at home (salmon salad would definitely fall under that category). Even though Zona Rosa's a pretty quick commute from St. Joe, we seldom visit, so before and after eating we made our rounds through the other shops. I love that they carry a Children's Place because their clothes are so cute and reasonable. I got Luke a cute striped polo one-piece outfit, denim overalls, and a graphic T for under $12! I was pretty happy about my special finds.

Later that evening, we went to the church for a rehearsal for the Sunday service. There was a lot of prep involved since it was going to be the first Sunday day the new senior pastor, Jason Whyte, was there and it was also a time of saying goodbye to our media minsiter, Tyler Hoffman and his wife, Melissa. I think things turned out really well. I enjoyed that we only had one service on Sunday instead of the normal three. It was packed in the sanctuary.

Today has been the day of errands. I got Luke weighed for the first time since June and found out that he's now 12lbs. 2oz. He's becoming quite the chunker. His little thighs now have some rolls and his cheeks are chubbier (which make them all the better for kissing). He has a scheduled doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks to get his first vaccinations. Nick and I both have been reading up a great deal on immunizations (as well as asking friends and family what they've done) and we've decided to put Luke on a delayed and less aggressive scheduling of them. I'm a bit anxious to see how our pediatrician takes our decision as I've heard some do not fair well when you change the system, but I'm hoping he's okay with our approach.
