The Weekend

Yesterday evening we went over to OCC's workout center (a converted raquetball court filled with weights and a few treadmills). We just stumbled upon their new fitness center earlier last week, when it started raining and we wanted to go on a walk. We went to the school's gym and happened to walk past the raquetball courts. Since then, I've used it three times and really like it (especially the fact that it's free!). It's not been in use much when I've been there, which is kind of nice because I don't feel very confident attempting the pump iron in front of an audience! We both went over there to work out last night. When we got back home, we watched bits and pieces of The Producers (we both were kind of disappointed and skipped through almost every scene). Nick then put in Mission Impossible 3 and I played around with some of my craft projects. My mom made these adorable Thanksgiving invitations from scratch so I thought I'd try making my own cards, too. I made a card for my grandma's upcoming birthday and it did turn out pretty good, if I do say so myself!

This morning, we slept in until 8:30 (yea!) and went to second service. We both just love our church so much and they've been going through a really great series on leading others to Christ. After church, we stood around and talked with Martin. Nick won't have a night class on Tuesdays next semester so we're going to start going to 617, the church's young adult ministry. Nick will be doing his church internship at CCO, helping out the Creative Arts team, which he is absolutely pumped about. It's such a blessing that he will get to learn hands on about all the media equipment and help run that. Since he'll be doing that next semester, we figured it would be good to get connected at the church a little more. So, we'll be looking forward starting in with 617.

It's been a bit of a challenge putting this together because Nick's watching the Chiefs vs. Dolphins game in the next room. The Chiefs are evidentally doing really poorly because it's a terrible rachet in the living room- foot stomping, yelling, and pacing. It doesn't sound like they'll win!

Oh, hey... I'm starting in on a great book called The Great Physicians RX for Health & Wellness by Jordan Rubin. I'd read The Maker's Diet earlier this year and really learned a lot. If you're into learning more about a wholistic approach to health and fitness, it's a great book. Also, this past month I just went through Donald Miller's To Own a Dragon. It's about growing up with a father, which I'm blessed to not have personally experienced, but it gave me a bit of good insight into what it's like and makes me all the more thankful that I have such a loving father.

Well, best be gettin'. We're going to go on a walk and soak up some sunshine. Mark Bond also told us this morning that JC Penny's got some amazing sale starting at 4:00pm- something like 75% clearance having an additional 15% off. Nick's been in need of a new pair of jeans for quite a while, so I'm hoping they have some of those great sales in the men's department.

Have a good day and enjoy the crisp, autumn weather!
