I don't know which is more ridiculous... the fact that I haven't updated our blog in over half a year or the fact that I've been sitting here for the past two hours, attempting to write this monstrously huge blog explaining what we've been doing in all that time. Rest assured (as you already have, I'm sure) that we're still alive- just in case you thought, we'd walked off the face of the planet.
I wish I would have realized this earlier, but it's taken me all this time in front of the computer to discover that it's not worth your time or mine to update you all on everything that's been going on... it's just way too long. And besides that, it would totally defeat the point of sending out Christmas newsletters- which I've really been looking forward to doing- because then you'd already know everything we've been doing this year. So, you'll just have to wait until December to find out what's been going on in the Greenlee household!
However, the present... now that I can fill you in on! This past week has been full of highs and lows. I'll save the good news for last (to end on a happy note). Earlier this computer Nick's labtop crashed. I wish I could say that he'd backed up his computer, but no can do. He lost every paper he's written while going to Ozark, a lot of music, and a lot of pictures. Neither one of us has a clue how his harddrive crashed... his computer had been fine all this time and it is only a year old, so you would think it would have a lot of life left in it (but we found out otherwise). Oh, well... just one of those things. So, Nick has been burning the midnight oil rewriting papers that had been saved on his computer. Our desktop is pretty make-shift (so much so, that until this little incident, it's been stored in a closet). Luckily, it will get Nick by in his classes until Thanksgiving break. Then we'll see if we can get something figured out at Best Buy. Hopefully we can inform you of some good news about his labtop within the next couple of weeks.
And on to the good news! This week we had the privilage of having Nick's co-worker, TJ along with his wife, Julie, over on Monday. Then yesterday, we had our friends Martin & Jani over. And we had a blast! In our year and a half of being in Joplin, we haven't had a lot of opportunities to have people over. This week, we just decided we were going to be very intentional about inviting people into our home and I'm so glad we did because it was a ton of fun. On Monday, we made chicken tortilla casserole, spanish rice, and chocolate chip cookies, which were all absolutely awesome (even as leftovers!). And then yesterday we made Skyline chili and bread pudding. I'm going to have to post the bread pudding recipe on here because it was the first time we made it and it was really good!
Anywho, I know it's been forever since we've posted, but we'll try to become more faithful about it. I promise!
