Town Hall for Hope

The media has cast such a doom and gloom vision of our current national economic state, it's absolutely depressing to watch and I'm to a point where out of sight is out of mind (which equates to peace of mind!). Sometimes there's a benefit to not knowing how bad things are or could get. That's not to say that some concerns are not legit and need addressing (trust me, we dealt with unemployment during Christmastime and it was scary), but my biggest bone to pick with the media's presentation of the economic situation is this: "So what are you proposing we do about it?". It almost feels as if Chicken Little is a commentator on every news station... I'm all for getting facts, but running around screaming that the sky is falling never helped anyone.

It's ironic then that hope has been the word of the year, whether it be for a political campaign or for living through the troubles of here and now. For all the talk, not a lot of people feel hope (or what's more... peace) about the economy, national security... heck, the future in general. Of course, no one will fully know this type of hope and peace unless they walk with the Prince of Peace.

That's probably why I'm such a big fan of Dave Ramsey's. I love that he brings finances back into biblical perspective... addresses issues, but rests the general public assured that it's not really that bad. And the solution? Well, the ball is in OUR court! We can get through this and do well. As a lot of people are saying (and I LOVE it), "I am an American and I am not participating in the recession".

I would encourage you all to check out Dave Ramsey's website and check to find a local spot that is hosting his free satellite event Town Hall for Hope, where he will be answering a lot of questions people have posted him from Facebook, e-mails, phone calls, etc. about the economy. This event will be taking place April 23 at 8pm.
