Busy Month

The month of November is just flying by.... Two weeks ago, we had my mom and the boys down for a short while. It was a bummer that we were so "hit and miss" with our schedules (they were busy with the Ambassador's Rally and we had to work), but we enjoyed what short amount of time we could with them. Alex is just growing like a weed. Nick and I were so impressed with his reading skills. We both had offered to watch him Friday evening while Mom and Michael were busy at the conference and so he tagged along as we did our "Wal-Marting". During our drive to Wal-Mart, he read every billboard and business marque that he could spot. We were both very impressed that he could easily read words like 'corporation' and 'communications' as well as street sign abreviations such as E., W., St. (street), etc. We took an extra bit of time doing our shopping, as Alex very intelligently informed us of all the brands of each product we needed.

The very next week, we had Nick's mother in town, which is always fun. She went with us to our classes on Thursday morning and on Friday we followed her up to Kansas City. My delayed birthday present was to see Les Miserable at the Music Hall (Nick had already seen it before and loved it so he was eager to take me). We had a night on the town! Before heading to the musical, we ate at P.F. Chang's on the Plaza and drove around the downtown area listening to Christmas music on Star 102 (yes, they are already playing Christmas music, would you believe it!). We had a wonderful time.

Last evening we went to a married student progressive dinner hosted at three of the college's staff homes(the president, the dean of development, and the basketball couch). It was good to meet other married students. We found out later that over 99 couples go to Ozark- 20% of the student body. Since most of the classes we're in our freshman classes, we've not really encountered any married students on campus, so it was great to get to meet some other couples. We especially enjoyed getting to meet one couple in particular that had transferred as well. Nick really hit it off with husband and I enjoyed getting to know the guy's wife. At the "desert house", we ended up staying, talking to the basketball coach, his wife, and the Wiemelts well into the night (it was after 11 when we left and they were in Carl Junction).

Which brings us to today. I had a hard time sleeping and got up at four. It's now after six so we'll need to start getting around for our 7'o clock class. Take care!
