Wedding Weekend: The Sequel

This weekend, we drove faster than ever before. Thank goodness, God had his hand on us as we were traveling to the dress rehearsal. We ended up wasting two hours trying to change the oil (which didn't work out) and leaving town, only to come back and pick up some stuff we forgot. We left at 2:00 to get to a 5:30 rehearsal that was a good five-hour drive away. We made getting to the church on time a mission!!! We made a great team, too: I prayed and watched for highway patrol officers while Nick sped about 90mph! Would you believe it... we ended up getting to the church at 5:45- in less that four hours (and that's with two pit-stops on the way!). I don't think we've ever driven that fast before, but we were so relieved to get there relatively on-time, safe, and without a ticket.

Everything was great. I spent the night with the Altons, while Nick hung out with Gavin at the duplex. We were both honored to hang out with them their last night before getting married.

Nick and Gavin took a trip to Wal-Mart and were so busy talking, they missed a stop sign. A cop car pulled them over and asked if Gavin had been "under the influence" because he looked so beat and he explained that he'd been working 15-hour days and getting married the day after and the cop let them off with a "Have a good wedding!".

The gals and I had a less eventful night. We watched the movie "IQ"... or rather, we talked over it the whole time. One of the things I love about hanging out with the Altons is we could always keep a conversation going even if we haven't seen each other in years. The last time I had been there, I was thirteen, but that didn't make anything awkward at all. Ashlie and Denise were busy doing last minute work, so I ended having a good time hanging out with Arica and Aimee, painting toe nails, and listening to what had been going on in their lives.

The wedding turned out beautiful. Nick and I have both sung "I Will Be Here" for three weddings (one of which was our own), so you'd think we wouldn't have a problem getting through it, but I could barely make it. I've never been more happy for a couple to get married and I was so emotional that I just starting heaving after we hit the last note. You could just sense God's hand upon both of them and it was so beautiful to see how He'd led them to this season of life.

So anyways if you can't already sense it, the wedding was awesome! The rest of the weekend we spent in KC with Bill & Julie. We went to the church they've been attending on Sunday and did Mary Kay facials with the Julie, Robin, and Nick's grandmas later that afternoon. Within the next couple days, we start our Thanksgiving week (we're having a 5-day holiday), so we'll be back up in KC on Wednesday.
