Wedding Weekend

Sorry... I just couldn't resist! I thought this was too cute in lieu of Thanksgiving being just around the corner!

This week has been crazy, but thank heavens it's almost over! Nick ended up finishing his exegetical paper around midnight the night before it was due and I got up around three in the morning to finish my application part of my paper. It was a daunting task to start (I have never written a 14-page paper before) but I think we both felt really good about accomplishing such a big task. We've also had tests all week long... Nick's in a class presently handing in a book report, while I'm studying (between typing this!) for our last test for the week.

Then starts the weekend! This afternoon, we'll be driving up to the Columbia/Mexico area. Ashlie & Gavin are having their dress rehearsal tonight and then the wedding is tomorrow (we're singing 'our song'- "I Will Be Here"). We're both so excited for them, but we've had quite an issue finding matching attire (in fact, I think we still don't know what we'll be wearing for it). The colors are sage, ivory, claret red, and gold. I don't have anything in any of those colors, and though Nick does, his clothes are not fitting like he'd like. It should be interesting. I teased Ashlie that we wouldn't wear anything crazy like hot pink or lime green, but at this rate we'll be lucky to just be within the right color family! After the wedding, we're driving over to Kansas City to see family. I'm going to do Mary Kay facials with the gals in Nick's family. It should be a lot of fun. I haven't been able to secure a booking all semester long, so I'm looking forward to finally having a class to conduct!

Last evening, we had Dacia Johnson over from class. It was a nice breather from all the school work. We made a skillet dinner and crumb cake together and played Scategories. Both of us had not had much time for socializing during the semester between work and school, so we had a good time just hanging out.

Last Wednesday was my last day at Old Navy. I was supposed to be scheduled next week, but they didn't give me any hours. I think they thought I wasn't loyal to them after I asked to take the holidays off... that's when they started reducing my hours down to nothing. I guess that's how companies do it. In order to not pay unemployement checks, they just drop a employees hours until they leave. I'm glad I'm not there anymore. I don't think I'm cut out for retail. Plus, it gives me a good opportunity to do something else. I'm trying to get Mary Kay really going. I have a class this weekend with family like I'd mentioned, and then a debut party here on the 28th.

Well, that's all for now. We're both very excited about Thanksgiving and having a break for a whole week. It is much needed and we plan on enjoying every minute that we can of it with family!

Happy Turkey Day!
