Hope Has Come

This past weekend was occupied with our church Christmas musical. Our choir (College Heights') and Christ's Church of Oronogo combined to perform a musical called Hope Has Come. Since both churches are mega-churches, combining music departments meant there were a lot of bodies on stage (I think their were around 160 or 170 with the orchestra included). We had the concerts (three in all) at Taylor Auditorium at MSSU. It ended up pulling together nicely.. We enjoyed ourselves and getting to know some of the people in the choir (the choir was so large that up until the actual concert, we knew no one by name other than the person we stood next to). It was fun, but like all musicals, exhausting as it consumed our whole weekend.

The pre-concert music for our musical was provided by a string quartet. I was blown away by their ability. Two of the members were brothers. Both of them were insanely good (to put it lightly). I hadn't even heard someone of their caliber in the St. Joseph Symphony. Apparantly it's a family affair. The boys have two younger sisters that also play. It knocked my socks off and when I asked where they have received lessons from, I was told that they took from Dr. Liu through the Suzuki program on campus. Wow! Am I excited to start up!

Yesterday, we went to Christ's Church of Oronogo. They have some really beautiful aesthetical things that they do in their sanctuary (white drapes from the ceiling to the floor that change color with stage lights on them, offering bags instead of plates). We both really enjoyed the service, too.

I start my job at Tamko on Wednesday or Thursday (I'm still awaiting a call back). The drug test and physical on Friday ended up taking a lot more time out of our day than we anticipated. The results should get to the company tomorrow.

This Friday, we look forward to heading up to Kansas City to begin our Christmas. Like Thanksgiving, we'll be dividing the holiday in half with our families (Saturday with his, Sunday with mine). We'll look forward to being with family again.

We also got reservations placed for New Years. There is a upscale restaurant on the outskirts of town called Arde's that we'll be going to. Julie will be coming down to stay with us over that holiday. We'll be looking forward to that as well.
