Our car's first boo-boo

This Tuesday was rather eventful. Like I'd mentioned in our last blog, I offered to play for an OCC student's senior practicum. The gal, well intentioned, called me four or five times within a two day period asking if I would like to pick up the music from her. After the fifth call, I said I'd go over right after work. As I was driving between the chapel and student union, a kid on campus got a wild notion to whack my car to scare me or maybe get a laugh. As I slowed down I felt a "WHACK" and the whole car shook. I felt like I'd been in an accident while standing still. I turned around to see a jokester laughing into the back window of our car (note: I was driving the new Impala). I was stunned because I thought he'd stop laughing when he realized I wasn't someone he knew (I thought maybe he was pulling a rough practical joke). But when we made eye contact, he continued to laugh. I drove off, by then angry. When I got home, I walked around the car to get into the house. I hadn't thought to check the passenger side after he hit it. But when I checked it out, I noticed a big grapefruit size dent... right in our brand new car. I was so steamed! I'll be going to the campus administration over my lunch break to try to work it out today. I don't know who the boy was and can't remember what he looks like very well, but I would appreciate some help getting that dent out of the car from him if he can be tracked.

Yesterday we tried out the other YMCA in town. We have access to both, and though one is closer to us, we've always gone down to the one farthest from us because it's brand new and quite large. We tried to one closest to us this time. Nick loved it. They've renovated a huge, old downtown building. The third floor had the cardio equipment. The walls were decorated in a steel/metallic finish and had windows that overlook the "skyline" of Joplin's downtown. We came as the sun was setting it was a pretty amazing view to have while jogging on a treadmill!

Also yesterday, I got to sub in a different department at work. Everyone in HR was out to decorate for a big corporate banquet so I got to be the secretary for the day. I had a blast. I did some mild paperwork for a few hours then I just waited for the phones to ring! I brought a book and was able to start and finish it that afternoon. Nick brought me lunch and we got to eat up in a conference room. It was the first time he was able to see where I work. I was so excited. He thought it was pretty amazing.
