Good buys

Last Saturday, we went to Kohl's to see if they had started clearance sales on their winter inventory (I'd been wanting to get Luke some items for next winter while they're on sale). Sure enough, we found several racks of 60-80% off. I was thrilled to see several Chaps brand sweaters on sale that I liked during Christmastime (I had to restrain myself from purchasing them then, as most of the sweaters were $40+ at the time). It just goes to show that it pays to wait... not only did we get one sweater, but we got four all for under $10 each. And to make the deal even sweeter, I found out that I still had a Kohl's gift card in my wallet from last year than had $$ still on it. After the sales associate swiped the gift card, we heard those magical words.

"You're total is 77 cents."

I'm a lover of a bargain, so I had to compose myself and save the happy dance for the parking lot. Needless to say, I'm thrilled about Luke's plethora of Christmas attire for next year:

As frugal as I try to be, I felt justified in spending something after our good news at Kohl's. So, on the way home, we "had" to pitstop at the local Joann's (a dangerous place for me to go with money in hand!). I am very happy with my purchase and my creative side will get some exercise this week:

I originally was going in just to get some cotton muslin and the zipper and eye/hooks, but how could I leave without this awesome fabric? Too fun. Also looking forward to getting some related items in the mails this week; I ordered 4 yards of Heather Bailey fabric online as well as Amy Butler's Barcelona Skirt pattern which should get here any day now.

After living out of a suitcase for two months now (a suitcase, I stupidly packed with three pairs of pants and pj bottoms- no skirt(s)- may I add)... I'm dying to look and feel somewhat feminine again, and am especially looking forward to wearing a skirt to church. I'll hopefully have 3 new skirts when all is said and done. I'm particularly looking forward to getting the pattern because it comes with a bonus vintage-type apron pattern, something I think would be too fun to make and it seems pratical, as I could wear it to protect the skirt while doing Momma Duties (those gals in the 50's were smart ones for wearing aprons over their dresses).
