Luke has had some major developments as of recent.
He loves to stand (as you can see for yourself above!) Bath time definitely holds new challenges now. He's not quite to that point where he can do it on his own, but he's now daring enough to hold on with one hand... I can tell he's got that look in his eye that says "I so want to let go, but I don't want to bruise my behind if I try and don't succeed". It's great that he's fairly cautious (the boy must take after his dad)... I've never seen that in a baby before. However, it's unfortunate for him that he gets his skills in coordination from moi (or rather lack thereof- I'm a real klutz). It's obviously a sad combination. At any rate, it would not surprise me if he's walking by 9 months. Needless to say, he has the battle wounds to prove his ambition. I did some internet surfing regarding this stage in Luke's development and found these. I don't plan on purchasing them but it never ceases to amaze me that all the grounds in baby gear have been covered so it seems.
Last week out of nowhere Luke decided to start climbing up stairs. It totally blew my mind because it came out of nowhere, too. Maybe it's common at this stage of the things, but I thought we had a long time coming before he was climbing. I'm more concerned for his safety about this than his attempts at standing and trying to walk because he doesn't have a clue how to get back down stairs; since we're still living at my inlaws- where there are three stories and no baby gates (we need to address this, I know)- it's been a nightmare trying to make sure he's not so close as to plummet down a fleet of stairs. :(
Luke's also got a mouthful of teeth coming in. He got his bottom two at 6 months, and I've noticed three coming in on top.
This week, Luke came down with his first cold ever. Nick has been worried sick about it; Luke did develop a cough that "heckled" from phlem and he's now to the runny nose stage. He's been a real trooper about it and it hasn't affected his mood too greatly. Hopefully, it will pass quickly.
